If you know of someone who wants to start a business we have a number of resources for individuals on our New Economic Development tab. For example, Mattoon has a number of Tax Increment Financing Districts (TIF Districts).
One can find all the information on the City’s TIF districts here: Broadway East, Interstate 57, Midtown and South Route TIF are all available and if needed one can download and review the cities 2013 comprehensive plan.
We have included a map of potential business locations in incentive zones on LOIS, an economic development tool provided by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (IDCEO). Mattoon Illinois is a great place to live, raise a family, and start a business. We have tried to put the resources for entrepreneurs to understand the area and its available locations in one place. Also, the Robust Economy Committee is currently working on Phase 1 of a business innovation center called the Cross County Innovation Center (CCIC). This center will be a place where people can receive the information needed to start and grow their small business.
Together we can move Mattoon forward.
