K-12 Workforce Development

Here we have a list of K-12 workforce development activities that are currently available in and around the area.

EIEFES /LLC Annual 8th-grade career conference where 8th graders listen to a motivational speaker and interview at least 3 career professionals from 13 career clusters
EIEFES Supports 9-12 CTE classrooms in EFE region with equipment/material purchases and
teacher professional development
EIEFES Construction Trades Expo for 9-12 students in the region including alternative school students

Corps of Engineers Okaw Valley School District – work with students K-12
SBLHC Men in Healthcare – conducted for High School male students has been offered by HR (EIEFES used to do this and we called it Men in Nursing)
SBLHC SBL Speaker Bureau – asked to go into the high school for Health Career Days
SBLHC Half day workshop that pre-school and school kids
come to the SBL Ed Center and rotate throughout the different rooms talking
about different healthcare careers
SBLHC Science Clubs/Future Nurses Clubs – come to SBL for a hospital tour
SBLHC Go to the high schools and provide an update on nursing careers
SBLHC/EIEFES Health Occupations class for 11-12 grade students in the region. Classroom sites in Mattoon, Paris, Effingham, Shelbyville.
LLC/EIEFES/SBLHC Health CareeRx Club- high school students hear presentations from health care professionals and do hands-on activities
